SpeeRead Story |
|
Every 2 days we create as much information as we did up to 2003!*
The rapid development of information technology and easy access to it favors the process of creating new informations. The question is: HOW AND WHEN DO WE READ THESE INFORMATION? A possible answer comes from the field of psychology, developed with the help of information technology: OPTIMIZED SPEED READING.
2012: The history of SpeeRead has its starting point in December 2012. Then, being a last year student of psychology, I had to choose a theme for my license paper. I made a list where, on the first position, I wrote: LEARNING, MEMORY, RAPID READING. The list also included other possible topics: personal discipline, creativity, attention, balancing cerebral hemispheres etc. Finally, from the list of options I decided to choose the first one.
2013: The decision being taken, in January 2013 I started to actually work on the program. I wanted to be a multidisciplinary subject that would share psychology and technology. So a computerized fast reading program met these criteria. And because I had to choose a tool of work, I chose the well-known WORD. The texts used for tests and exercises are written in WORD files that have small programs behind these texts. You can see below, in two short videos, how these programs worked.
Title of the license paper: THE CONCEPT, THE REALIZATION AND EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF A SOFTWARE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPEED READING SKILL AND IMPROVEMENT OF MEMORY AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITY OF READED TEXTS. The license work was rewarded with the 9.66 mark.
The dissertation paper followed with the same subject, which was deepened by a scientific study of 9 people. The study will be published in the future, on the BLOG, in the Scientific Research category.
Title of dissertation paper: EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF THE EFFICIENCY OF A SOFTWARE FOR THE SPEED READING SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE MEMORY AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITY OF READING TEXTS. Also the dissertation paper was rewarded with the 9.66 grade in 2015.

2013: After the license was completed, it was born the idea of capitalizing the program as a commercial application that will be delivered online.
That's why in July 2013 I started a discussion with NextPhase, a small investment fund in Cluj that could have provided financial support for the development of the program. After 3-4 months of quizzes, they dropped the project by considering that they lacked sufficient expertise in psychology.
2014: In February 2014, I began working on an online solution with Dragos Tilipan, a programmer and friend. In parallel, between December 2013 and March 2014, I conducted the first scientific study with the rapid reading program, in WORD format, for dissertation work. Due to lack of resources, the online project stopped in May 2014.
In August-September 2014 I got in touch with the startup environment in Cluj via ClujHub. There, after the introduction of the speed reading program at Open Connect Event in September 2014, I started a partnership with Around25 to develop an online quick reading application.
2015: SpeeRead, the brand that has been accompanying the program since then, was born in this partnership. The SpeeRead design was made by Stefan Asafti, who has shaped our brand ideas. We worked well together until May 2015 when we decided that our predictions on the roll-out of an online fast reading service are minimal until the deadline of December 2015.
At this point I decided that I had to capitalize my technological knowledge (telecommunication engineering since 1996). I started to build a website dedicated to learning fast reading using a suitable CMS. The site became public in August 2015 and in October 2015 I started promoting it. I implemented the Virtual Store separately because the CMS used does not allow online payments in lei, the romanian currency. Dragos Tilipan contributed to this project for part of the scripting and Paul Boncutiu for the content part (texts for tests and workouts). There are also other indirect authors, from which I received financial support or from which I have learned elements of web design, web marketing, SEO etc. I am grateful and thank you here to all those who have contributed, directly or indirectly, to the construction of this site and implicitly to my dream of creating an online tool for learning fast reading!
2016: Starting in May 2016, I held public presentations about SpeeRead.net in Cluj-Napoca and Sibiu. I intend to extend these presentations to other cities in Romania. On 11 May I participated in DevTalks, which took place at ImpactHub in Cluj-Napoca.

The SpeeRead project goes on.
2016: In October, SpeeRead.net fulfilled an Active Online Life Year! Moment of celebration but also reflection on the challenges that follow. During this time, several hundred customers tested the platform (average 1 client per day), learned how fast they were reading and some went to work. That is, they learned fast reading with SpeeRead and they also recommended us. Read about this results Here and Here! We thank everyone for trust! In the coming year, we are committed to continuing to make the speed reading learning platform as familiar and accessible as possible.
2016: In November, the SpeeRead.net site went through a facelift. Here are the improvements:
2017: In March I started working with ProfitPoint Cluj-Napoca. ProfitPoint is an international provider of Forex and stock market trading expertise and organizes training courses in trading and entrepreneurship. Through collaboration with Dr. Dragoman Calin - Private Psychology Practice, a series of personal development courses were added to the ProfitPoint portfolio, as well as an optimized fast reading course. Together with ProfitPoint we agree to start developing an online platform for optimized rapid reading, in english language, dedicated for Forex and stock market traders.
2017: In April I started the work on translating SpeeRead in english language and on the buliding of the optimized speed reading online platform. The work was finished in July 2017. Since than SpeeRead.org is available all over the world for english language users!
2017: In May, Andrea Burean joins our team to help with translations into English. All the work done by Paul Boncutiu for the writing of the original texts for tests and workouts will be translated and adapted for English by the newest member of our team, Andrea. She is a young student and full-time employee and now she will work part-time also for us.
2017: In August, Andrea manages to finish the entire translation of Paul's work. Thanks to her, the English website is now fully functional!
